Chapter 1
Madison Holl trudged down the hallway of Southerthen Middle, to the door at the end.
Her day hadn’t been great, most of her days weren’t. She had no friends, because everyone thought that such a shy girl that talks to no one except when spoken to, was a little weird. So no one bothered to be friends with her. She was an exellent student, all A’s. But no one found that exciting except her teachers. Madison always dressed in black, because she blended in better that way. But it did stand out her blonde hair which was always in a black head band.
As Madison walked down the hall with her back pack loaded with books from the school library. Three girls came down the other end. They all had there hair in ponytails. And were all wearing coats with fur lined hoods. There names were Clara, Belle and Katlyn.
“Oh look!” Clara cried, the leader of the trio. “It’s little miss shy!”
The other girls laughed with Clara as Madison passed by them.
“Oh! And where did you get those clothes?” Belle said. Which she’s said the same thing to Madison at least everyday.
“None of your business.” Madison would say. And walk on.
As Madison walked out of the door, she could still here the girls laughing behind her.
When she got home she stopped by her Grandfather’s office. But he wasn’t there.
Probably off golfing somewhere. Madison thought.
She went into the kitchen and dumped her backpack on the floor by the kitchen table.
“Hello, Miss.” Katy the cook said. “How was school?”
And Madison was give the same answer she always did: “Hello, Katy. It was fine.”
“Would you like some ice cream, miss?” Katy’s Irish accent always made Madison smile.
“Yes, chocolate please.” Madison answered.
After Madison got her ice cream, she grabbed her backpack and ran upstairs to her room.
As she ate her ice cream she tried to figure out what the square root of 49 was. But before she could, she heard a loud noise coming from outside.
She went to the window and looked out. There was a boy with black hair wearing a black leather coat and jeans lying at the foot of the driveway and a skateboard rolling down the road on its own.
It was winter, so there was ice all over the driveway. She could tell why the boy was now on the ground because his skateboard probably slipped on the ice and he fell off.
Dumb boys. Madison thought always doing something stupid.
When she got to the end of the driveway without falling down and breaking something, the boy was already getting up.
“Are you ok?” Madison asked. She usually didn’t talk to anyone, but the boy just fell down, he might be hurt.
“Yeah, I’m fine.” The boy grumbled. He went over to where his skateboard was a picked it up. “I just slipped.” He looked about Madison ’s age, 12 or 13.
“Uh…W-would you like to come in for s-some hot coco?” Madison asked.
The boy’s light blue eyes looked like ice when the sun hit them. “I can’t right now. Bye.” And he skated boarded away.
Her house was like something right out of the 1800’s history book. Since her grandfather was rich. She got all nice things. DSI’s MP3s, cell phones. But she wasn’t happy being rich. She wanted to have a normal house and a normal life. Just like all the other kids in the 20ith century. She felt like Bruce Wayne from Batman. Always lonely. She was lonely even if her grandfather was there. He just sat in his office reading about golfing or something else that old people do.
When she got inside, Sara the housemaid was coming down the stairs.
“What was all the commotion outside, miss?” She asked.
“Oh, a boy fell off his skateboard on our driveway.”
“Goodness! He should be more careful! You could go breakin’ somethin’ on those horrid things!” Sara’s Irish accent was so funny when she talked.
“I asked him if he wanted to come in for hot coco, but he just raced off.” Madison hung up her coat on the coat hanger.
“Well that’s boys for you! Always rushin’ into things.” Sara went down the hall to the laundry room.
But that wasn’t what was bothering, Madison . She was so close to having a friend.
This is great, Madison! Keep up the writing! I can't wait to read chapter 2!
