Chapter 5

As Madison and Leon drove along in the car, Madison had to keep telling Leon what side of the road to drive on and what signs meant, while he told her about himself.

He said that we was a prince of the country Ilone in the world Imagine. Ever since he was 3 his father had kept him in doors and made sure, that we would never escape. Because his father wanted to keep him until he was 18 and then he could kill him, so that his father would be king forever.

“Thanks horrible Leon…LEFT SIDE!...I’m so sorry! And I thought that my grandpa was bad.”

“It’s alright. Why don’t you like you grandfather?” Leon asked.

“ I like him, it’s just…STOP! THAT SIGN MEANS STOP!...All he cares about is golfing, sometimes he goes golfing and stays at a hotel  because he wasn’t to finish the game. And he doesn’t even tell me!  It’s so unfair!”

“I see what you mean, where are you parents?”

“There, gone.”

“Oh I’m sorry.”

“It’s ok, they died a long time ago in a car crash…THAT’S A FENCE!”

Leon swerved the car away from the fence. “Oh goodness! In Ilone, everything just melts away when you come so close to it.”

“So how old are you, Leon?” Madison asked.

“14 going on 15.”

“Cool, I’m 12 going on 13.” Madison giggled.

Leon laughed. “I’m still trying to figure out how people of this world talk. It’s different from Imagine.”

“How do you talk in Imagine?”

“Well, we talk like people from the your 1700’s you could say. We also have English accents too.”

“Wow, you hide your accent well.” Madison smiled.

“Thanks, but it’s not so hard to hide it.” He spoke it in a perfect English accent.

“Wow, that’s so cool!” Madison said.

Leon’s cheeks turned a little red “Thanks.”

As they drove through town, Madison looked out the windows. And then she saw three girls walking on the side walk. They were Clara, Belle and Katlyn.

“Keep driving.” She told Leon.

“I can’t, it’s a red light.”

Madison knew she couldn’t break the law just for a chance at not getting teased. So she tried to hide by shrinking down into her seat.

“Why are you doing that?” Leon asked puzzled.

“There’s these…uh…Girls who tease me a lot…and…” Madison started.

“Madison Holl! Is that you? O-M-GOSH! Where did you get such a cute car?” Clara, Belle and Katlyn all came running up to the car, which was stopped at a red light.

Oh no! They’ll think that I have a boyfriend, and then Leon will get shy and…and…and. Madison thought.

“What’s your name?” Clara asked Leon.

“Uh…Leon.”

“That’s such a cute name! Where are you from?”

Madison couldn’t risk Leon getting al confused and then Clara would probably tease him and not to mention Madison.

“H-he’s my cousin.” Madison suddenly said.

Leon looked at her. And mouthed: “what?”

“Well we got to go, the lights green anyway. Bye, bye, Leon!” And the three girls walked away in a chorus of giggles.

When the car got moving again, Leon said: “Cousin?”

“I-I didn’t want them to think th-that…” How was she going to explain to Leon that she didn’t want them to think she had a boyfriend? It would be the 12 o’clock news at the school!

“Oh, she just likes to flirt.” Madison said.

“Flirt?” Leon asked puzzled.

“Yeah, it’s…uh…when girls get all giggly and start saying stuff to boys that are dumb. I didn’t want her to start doing that; it would be…uh…a waste of your time.” Madison put on a little smile. Hoping Leon would not ask questions.

“Oh, that makes sense.” Leon said.

“So, you haven’t told me where we are going yet.” Madison said, trying to change the subject.

“We have to drive to New York, and then will get a plane I took here from Ilone and we’ll fly to the other world.” Leon answered.

“Oh. Sounds cool. But what…” Madison said.

“SKREICH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”

“W-what w-was th-that?” Madison’s voice started to shake.

“Volasaeagles” Leon said. He started to pick up speed on the dirt road they were taking.

“What?” Madison’s voice was coming to end.

“They’re half Velociraptor and half eagle.” Leon swerved the car around a sharp turn. Madison could tell by his face, that they had better loose these things.

“What are we going to do?”

“Try to loose them, and if we don’t then we’ll have to fight them somehow. But don’t worry, they probably just want to take me back to Ilone.” He swerved the car into a field and started across.

“Or me.” Madison whispered.

“What was that?” Leon asked.

“SHREICH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!” Sharp talons started to tear off the roof of the car.

Madison screamed. She’d watched Jurassic Park movies, when dinosaurs would just come running at you.

“Grab the wheel!” Leon shouted.

Madison vowed never in her whole life would she drive a car. She would ride bikes to work. She didn’t want to drive because that’s how her parents had died, in a car crash.

“Madison! Now!” Leon yelled.

Madison mustered all the courage she had left and grabbed the wheel.

“Just keep steering, and make sure we don’t hit anything. The gas and brake are on automatic. You don’t need to use them.” Leon yelled over the sound of tearing medal.

He stood up in the seat and pulled out his sword. Madison moved over to the driving seat, as Leon got into her seat. He started slashing at the talons.

Madison just kept consternating on where the car was going, she saw an opening in the fence, probably where the farmer when in and out with his truck. She aimed for that spot.

Just relax, when you go to turn on the road, just keep driving, everything will be ok. Madison told herself.

Leon kept slashing at the talons, but it wasn’t working.

“Do they have a weakness?!” Madison shouted.

“Nothing on Earth will stop them!” Leon shouted back.

Then the car roof came off.

“SHREICH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!” The animal was the most horrifying thing Madison had saw in her entire life. It had the head of a dinosaur and the body of an eagle. Madison wanted to run away. She looked into the animals horrifying eyes. The animal stared back.

“MADISON! LOOK OUT! FENCE!” Leon screamed.

But Madison didn’t hear Leon, the animal’s eyes seemed to swallow her up.

Then she felt it, the air bag, and then, nothing.
